Formally inaugurated on 17th February 1973 by Mrs. Mariory Gregory, wife of the President of Rohm & Haas Co., Philadelphia, USA, Dayawati Modi Public School carries one of the most distinctive founding stories among CBSE schools in the Ghaziabad district. The school was established by Late Rai Bahadur Gujar Mal Modi (Padma Bhushan) - a noted industrialist and philanthropist - in the name of his wife Mrs. Dayawati Modi. Situated on Hapur Road opposite Modipon Ltd. in Modinagar, the institution is a member of the National Progressive Schools Conference (NPSC) and Sahodya, and holds CBSE Affiliation No. 2130020 under the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.

Over more than five decades, DMPS Modinagar has grown into a multi-wing campus comprising three separate buildings for senior, junior, and pre-primary classes. The Senior Wing houses 58 spacious classrooms along with fully equipped Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Computer laboratories, a Library-cum-Reading Room, Conference Room, Art Room, Music Room, Recreation Room, Electronics Room, and a separate Activity Building for co-curricular work. The Pre-Primary Wing - the Rai Bahadur Gujar Mal Modi Centenary Block - was inaugurated on his 100th birth anniversary and features an amphitheatre, an activity centre, and manicured lawns designed specifically for children aged 2½ to 6 years. As a deliberate policy, no formal examinations are conducted from Pre-Nursery to Class V, keeping early learning experience-based.

The sports infrastructure at DMPS includes grounds for Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Handball, Throwball, Hockey, Cricket, Kho-Kho, and Badminton courts, along with a Botanical Garden and a Wood Craft Workshop - the last being a particularly uncommon feature among schools in this region. A magnificently built auditorium with a seating capacity of 1,000 hosts the school's annual and cultural programmes. The Dayawati Modi Centenary Block, dedicated by Mr. U.K. Modi and Mrs. Kumkum Modi in their mother's memory on 17th November 2015, further adds to the campus.
